VGM Announcement effective July 01,2016 for ALL trade lanes.

Dear Valued Customers,

As announced dated May 13 at our Wider Website , the International Maritime Organization ( IMO ) has adopted a new regulation under the Safety of Life at Sea Convention ( SOLAS ) that require shippers to provide a Verified Gross Mass (VGM) for every packed containers as a condition for vessel loading as this regulation will be in force for all trade lanes with all transportation mode which “ NO VGM, NO LOAD “ will be effect from July 01, 2016.

For VGM regulations, shipper is responsible to obtain and record the verified gross mass of packed container in documentary format & declared in the shipping document. This declaration need to be submitted as part of the shipping instruction or and independent proof document by 2 difference methods.

1.Submission of Information
The shipper shall submit the shipping document with verified gross mass used in the ship stowage plan sufficiently in advance.

a.For gross mass obtained either in which Method, the declaration shall consist of the content hereunder c& signed by the shipper’s authorized person .

Shipper’s declaration : the gross mass of the packed container declared in the shipping document was obtained in accordance with Method 1 / Method 2 stipulated in Solas Chapter VI Regulation 2 .

Method 1 – In the shipping document, the shipper shall be make a declaration by incorporating the content as above together with packing list & weighting report which issued by the Weighting Scale.

2.Methods in Verification of Packed Container Mass
Shipper may consider for either one method below for mass verification of packed container .

Method 1 : Weighting the packed container by using the approved Weighting Scale which enlisted in Marine Department website as link. Marine Department (MD) – http://www.mardep.gov.hk

Method 2 : Weighing all packages and cargo items, including pallets, dunnage and other securing material to be packed in the container and adding the tare mass of the container to the sum of the single mass using a certificated method2 approved by the Marine Department. The shipper is liable to the practicality of the procedure, the accuracy of the calculated mas, the record of the verification process , and the maintenance of the records.

We highly recommend that our valuable customer to have registration with Marine Department if Method 2 consider to be use as it’s free of charges & the confirmation email with registration number will be forward by Marine Department within 3-5 working days.
